Medical Safe-T has been designed for those of us who have a medical condition that
the emergency services should be aware of in the event of an emergency.
Examples
of fhese conditions include:
- asthma
- diabetes
- epilepsy
- allergies (e.g penicillin,
nuts or wasp stings)
- and rare blood types,
but can include anything else of medical importance.
- the service is even applicable for people suffering from Alzheimers,
dementia, or for those who have difficulty in communicating with others.
The registered member is issued with a series of keyrings bearing:
- their name
- member id
- the medical condition(s) the user wishes to be printed on the keyrings
- and
the number of our support centre to call in the event of an emergency.
The
idea is for the emergency services staff to call us to find out more about you,
including your in case of emergency contact (ICE) details. These keyrings
can be clipped to house keys, car keys, rucksacks, jackets, or anything else associated
with the member.
Carrying a credit card-sized ID card, or wearing a Talisman is fine, but what happens
if these items are removed from your person, either lost or stolen? Having
multiple keyrings on your person, particularly when these are attached to clothing,
makes the job of the emergency services identifying you much easier.
One of the biggest problems for the emergency services is trying to identify unconscious
or confused people to whom they have to attend. This was one of the primary
issues raised by paramedics and emergency medical technicians to whom we spoke at
the recent Ambex 2007 exhibition in Harrogate.
Our service is similar to the successful Medic-Alert system that has been in operation
worldwide for over 40 years. The primary differences are in the cost of the
service, plus there is no need to purchase a relatively expensive Talisman-type
item. with no hidden costs.
This service is so new that our registration website is not yet ready to accept
on-line subscriptions. Contact us to ask about the Medical Safe-T service.
